The rapper describes BANAWATI as a poem/song that “is concerned with inner feelings of an individual who is compelled to hide it from the society. It can be the inspiration for the third gender as well as all the loners and that’s how it is visualized”.
Whilst hip-hop has popularly ridiculed the LGBT community, it’s pretty surreal to see a popular rapper highlight a transgender man through his art and storytelling. This certainly is a moment for the LGBT movement and awareness in Nepal. Kudos to the BANAWATI team.
